William Hunter Bowen was born on Monday, July 13, at 5:41pm. He clocked in at 8 lbs, 9.7 oz, and a long 20.75 inches.
Oh, babylove. He’s officially one week old and I’m just wondering where the time goes, because it can’t have possibly been that long since he’s been in our lives. And yet, from the second they put him in my arms I had a profound feeling of having known him forever. My mom once told me that sometimes, during happy moments with her children, her heart aches just a little bit. I didn’t get it until now – being a mother is heartbreakingly sweet.
We’ve been home since Wednesday, trying to get back to some semblance of normalcy. Will was born via unplanned C section after about 18 hours of labor, so recovery is slow. We’re beginning to figure each other out, learning what makes him tick. I get wildly distracted by baby cuddles (he’s currently resting on my shoulder post-burp, because I can’t bear to part with him for bed quite yet), and we’ve all had about a collective half dozen hours of sleep in the last week. But I wouldn’t trade all the sleep in the world for this indescribable love. Babies are the best, man.
Welcome to the world, Will. You are loved beyond measure.
